Psi-epistemic models

Description:

Within the hidden variable framework, one can make a distinction between models wherein the quantum state represents reality, and those wherein it represents our knowledge of reality. This is the distinction between psi-ontic and psi-epistemic models. To be precise, a model is psi-epistemic if two distinct quantum states are consistent with a single ontic state. This group is intended as a forum for discussing issues surrounding this distinction, in particular, the open question of whether there exist any natural psi-epistemic models of quantum theory.
